March President's Message

March always feels like a turning point, where the momentum of a new year starts to translate into real action. For our association, that energy is building toward our Annual Convention, taking place April 20th and 21st at the Lumina on Wrightsville Beach.

If you’ve been part of this event before, you already know how special it is. If you haven’t attended yet, this is the year to make it happen. Our Convention is more than just a meeting, it’s where our association comes together to provide valuable education, best practice sharing during our networking events and so much more!

It’s an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day demands of our businesses and reconnect with peers who understand the challenges and opportunities we all face in our industry. Whether you’re a business owner, manager, or technician, there’s real value in attending the Convention

This year, we’re especially excited to recognize the outstanding individuals who help move our industry forward. We’ll be announcing our annual award winners and celebrating our scholarship recipients, highlighting the strength of our membership and the future of our workforce.

The convention also plays a critical role in the leadership of our association. Our Annual Election will take place during the event, giving you the opportunity to have a direct voice in shaping the direction of NCSLVA. Your participation matters, and I encourage every member to be engaged in that process.

Of course, we know how important continuing education is to your business and your license. That’s why we’ve built a program that allows you to earn up to 8 hours of CEUs from both the Security Systems Licensing Board (SSLB) and the NC Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors (NCBEEC). It’s a great way to stay compliant while investing in your professional growth.

Beyond the education and the business at hand, there’s something else that makes this event stand out in particular this year and that is our event venue. Lumina at Wrightsville Beach provides the perfect backdrop for meaningful conversations, networking, and a chance to recharge. Some of the most valuable moments happen outside the sessions, connecting with fellow members who share your commitment to this industry.

As President, I’m incredibly proud of the progress we’re making as an association, and I truly believe our strength comes from the engagement of our members. Events like this are where that engagement comes to life. I hope you’ll make plans to join us April 20th and 21st at the Convention. Bring your team, get involved, and be part of what makes this association strong.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,

Darwin Smith
NCSLVA President
